Subject: High Heat Forecast for Friday – Student Safety Precautions

Posted Date: 5/28/25 (6:27 PM)

Dear Soledad USD Families,

The weather forecast for this Friday, May 30, indicates high temperatures reaching 100 degrees in our area. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priority, and we want to share some important information and precautions we will be taking across all school sites.

What Schools Will Do:

  • Outdoor activities (recess, PE, lunch, and after-school programs) may be modified, moved indoors, or rescheduled depending on the heat risk level.
  • Students will be supervised in air-conditioned or cooler indoor spaces such as the cafeterias, multipurpose rooms, gymnasiums, and libraries as needed, depending upon each school site.
  • Our school district follows the California Department of Public Health and National Weather Service guidelines for managing high heat conditions on campus.

How You Can Help:

  • Ensure your child comes to school with a refillable water bottle as there are water stations on every campus
  • Dress your child in lightweight, breathable clothing and apply sunscreen if needed before school.
  • Encourage your child to stay hydrated and alert staff if they feel unwell.
We appreciate your support in keeping our students safe and comfortable during this period of high heat. If you have any questions, please contact your school’s front office.

Thank you for partnering with us for a safe and healthy learning environment.

Sincerely
Randy Bangs
Superintendent
